Telling the Truth

Would you disagree with this statement?

It is clear from the Scriptures that truth-telling is a commanded godly virtue, and that the opposite of truth-telling, lying, is a sin.

We know that God does not lie and that, on the contrary, Satan does. Should that affect how we think and speak? And what about those passages where the patriarchs "act with less than total candour" about theie wives?
