Global Messianic Family

Last night, Asher Intrater was the first speaker at the MLR Conference I'm attending in Phoenix. He spoke with the usual high level of excellence mixed with humility we have come to expect from him. The talk will be available online in a few weeks on the Jewish Voice website. I'll provide the link when I see it published.

It would take me many days to write fully regarding my notes from his comments. Let me just give you a taste of his remarks. The entire body of Messiah can be known by many titles. Asher used the name "Global Messianic Family."

Asher's point was that we Messianic Jews have not yet fulfilled our calling within the body. The entire body of Messiah is "seed of Abraham." Not just the Messianic Jewish part. Galatians 3:29 "And if you belong to Messiah, then you are Abraham's seed - heirs according to the promise."

So when we, as Messianic Jews, look at Genesis 12:3 "My desire is to bless those who bless you, but whoever curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed." We have to see our calling to participate with God and bless "all the families of the earth." We have not done this well, yet.

We have a calling to be a family to "all the families." This includes our Arab brothers, Chinese brothers, Indian brothers, first nation brothers, and every other peoplegroup. This we do by being humble toward them (not always a strong suit for MJs), by submitting to - and giving honor to - those older and younger in the family order. In fact, Asher's point was that in order to bless, we have to first BE family.
