Rain

rain - Each day at this time of year (from Shemini Atzeret to Pesach) we pray for rain so that the land will be watered and the soil will bring forth a good harvest. The winter rains in Israel are an important indicator not only of the year to come, but of the spiritual temperature of the country. As Israel is debating further compromises on land, against the backdrop of the driest winter for some years, we should pray that the people will clearly hear the voice of G-d as the land belongs to Him.Rain is seen as a type or symbol of the Ruach, the Holy Spirit, washing through and watering the people of G-d, opening hearts to Yeshua and bringing a harvest of righteousness. In order to address water shortages, Israel has built massive desalination plants along the Mediterranean coast to supplement the natural supply of water with abundant fresh water reclaimed from the sea. We must remember that although it is fine to turn on our taps to get water to drink, we cannot generate the Spirit to satisfy

our thirst; He is a gift from G-d and we need to cry out to our Father to send more rain, more Spirit into our hearts and to be poured out upon our people.

Amos spoke of a time when there would be a famine, with people running from coast to coast to search out water to drink and food to eat. May it not happen in our days; may we cry out to G-d, humble our hearts and seek His blessing, His direction and His salvation for our people and our land.
