Passover in the Family

The third section of our book "Conveying a Heritage" moves on th address perhaps the most important Jewish feast in the calendar year: Passover. It is often puzzling to ask why the Christian world doesn't celebrate Passover - or does it?

It is common for Messianic Jews to claim that anti-Judaism and later anti-Semitism motivated Christian leadership to change the feast days to disassocciate themselves from biblical Jewish roots. This certainly is a significant element explaing the Christian calendar.

I think that the Jewish biblical practices ae the original by which other copies are to be measured and understood. This is clear with regard to Passover.

This is great time to remember what God has done fur us in Messiah Yeshua and to anchor our faith in Him by creating lots of little memory hooks in the traditional foods and customs of our people at this time of year. Children love it, and it can rapidly become the high point of the whole year as families - sometimes many generations together - come to celebrate Passover.

We remember the events of the Exodus; we remember that Messiah our Passover Lamb has been slain for us; we read from the book of Revelation to remind ourselves of a great passover and exodus yet to come.

This section then covers the outlines of the feast of Passover itself, the time of Unleavened Bread, Counting the Omer and the next feast in the annual cycle.

You can purchase the book here.
