A special Scripture passage

Is all Scripture created equal, or are some verses more special than others? This is a little like asking, "Which child do you like best?" While we hold all Scripture dear to our hearts, some are more dear to us than others. Take these Scriptures reading for instance ...

Genesis 12:1-3 "Then Adonai said to Abram, 'Get going out from your land, and from your relatives, and from your father's house, to the land that I will show you. My heart's desire is to make you into a great nation, to bless you, to make your name great so that you may be a blessing. My desire is to bless those who bless you,

but whoever curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.'"

God makes some promises to Abram here in these 3 verses as follows:

I will show you a land - God's promises are always connected to physical land. This becomes the "promised land" based on this very Scripture. Why not just any place? God is able to promise a particular place and to fulfill His promise. 2 Chronicles 6:6a "But I have chosen Jerusalem that My Name would abide there".

I will make you a great nation - When this promise was made to Abraham, he did not even have one offspring. Yet, with zero children, Abraham believed God. And we are called to have the faith of Abraham. Romans 4:3 "For what does the Scripture say? 'Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.'"

I will bless you - When God provides a blessing, it’s a huge blessing. The Hebrew word for bless comes from the root for "knee." In this use, God is bending His knee toward you and me. We should be blessing Him, but our God turns this around and He blesses us. Such an honor.

I will bless all the families through you - This is the easiest of all to write. Through Abraham, salvation through Messiah Yeshua has been made made available to every

family on earth.
