The symbol of Joseph

Question of the day: What is the metaphor or symbolic meaning of the last verse of Genesis 41?

Answer: Genesis 41:57 "Yet the whole world came to Egypt to buy grain--to Joseph--because the famine was severe in the whole world."

Joesph is a type of Messiah Yeshua (a kinsman redeemer). The whole world coming to buy grain is symbolic of the whole world coming to Yeshua for the bread of life.

John 6:35 "Yeshua said to them, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty."

Well that's fine for the whole world, but what about Yeshua's own people? Joseph's own people were led by the famine to seek grain in Egypt. They had no idea it would be their own brother who would provide for their welfare.

So it shall be in the coming days - Yeshua's own people will be led to seek sustenance, right back to their own brother, Yeshua, who will say to them ... Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and 'you will find rest for your souls.' For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Then we will have the last promise fulfilled ... Romans 11:25-27 "For I do not want you, brothers and sisters, to be ignorant of this mystery - lest you be wise in your own eyes - that a partial hardening has come upon Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, The Deliverer shall come out of Zion. He shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. And this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins.."
