Gifts and callings

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14

What an encouragement, no one has been left out of God's grace which brings salvation. Our main purpose is to serve God. However, we need the wisdom in how to do that without burning out or sacrificing ourselves or our loved ones. Balance in all things is called for. Thank God this service is to be done not in our strength but in His.

It can be a challenge to recognize those among us with the desire to dedicate their gifts and callings to serve God in and through the congregation and beyond. Another challenge is to identify exactly what those gifts, talents and strengths in us and in others are. Once we understand who we are and what He has called us to do; we then face the challenge of how to grow and mature.

If we are not encouraged to mature within the framework of service, under the guidance of God's Word, the congregation will suffer by lack of maturity. Those who are zealous to do good works, with love and direction, can be guided through the learning process to pick up the mantle so to speak, of service to others in and out of the congregation. When responsibility is given to others we must let go in order for them to grow. When people of all ages grow in God, everyone benefits, the community lives and breaths; infused by God's Spirit moving through us.

What example are we giving in and out of the congregation? We would do well to remember that people are watching! So. might we continue to live by the Word, until that day when our great God and Savior Messiah Yeshua appears.
