Commandments and Instructions

What do I see in the account of The Ten Commandments Exodus 20:1-17? God took the Nation of Israel out of Egypt and released them from bondage. He brought the Nation through the wilderness, opening the Red sea before them, performing miracles all the way to Mt. Sinai. At Mt. Sinai they experienced His Glory. What I see here is a nation about to receive their identity and a way how to live their lives.

Why are instructions such as this needed? Why do we need laws or a framework for our lives? We can think that we are doing the right thing but it may be harmful for others. God has given us the basis for living together and in harmony with Him and through Him. Throughout history we see that without rules, laws, leadership, etc. there is an every man for himself mentality. We see this in Judges 17:6, In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

Throughout history mankind has been subjected to self serving leaders, false teachers, and governments many with the aim of manipulating and controlling the society to their own benefit. The Ten Commandments directs us in a way that may not be natural for mankind but it is the way in which we obtain the framework needed to live as one. However, this framework is in the form of laws, etc. written on stone. Yeshua is the one that seals the Ten Commandments on our heart giving us the ability love and care for one another; our families, our neighbors and even our enemies.

In Isaiah 19:23-25 we read: "In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians will serve with the Assyrians. In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria - a blessing in the midst of the land, whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, 'Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.'"

What a blessing is promised in these words. Historically the connection between Egypt and Assyria was one of war and conflict with Israel in the middle, making covenants with whichever nation was in control at the time. Covenants on stone are open for interpretation but those of the heart are binding.

Our place is to stand with a heart that knows no borders which can stop our prayers for all nations and peoples regardless of race, color, belief and culture. Not religion but faith in Yeshua the Messiah. May every man and nation come to the revelation of this. May the covenant of love carve the highway of prayer until the day of Yeshua's return. Fellowship with Him and one another. 1 John 1:5-10

Sons of God, one in Him, a highway to holiness. Isaiah 35:8
