Permanent Transfer

While I hope I am not usually too swayed by random Bible verses, even those that get sent to my inbox every day, for - after all - we must hear the whole counsel of G-d and on a consistent basis, I was struck by this verse today.

Colossians 1:13-14 [God] has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

This is an essential verse that needs to become part of our every-day lives, not just inspected occasionally at moments of stress. It belongs to a family of similar verses that consistently tell us the same story: G-d has intervened in our lives on a permanent and irreversible basis. Another verse in the same family is:

John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

There you are! When we believe in Yeshua and, consequently, the Father who sent Him, we have eternal life. Hear this correctly. Yeshua doesn't say "you will have eternal life", although that is - of course - true, He says "you have, right now, in the midst of this physical life, eternal life". Put another way, eternal life starts today, whenever we trust in Yeshua. We have, at that precise moment, passed from death - our old life of sin - to life, our new life in Yeshua. At that exact time, Paul's words take effect:

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Messiah. It is no longer I who live, but Messiah who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

The last of this family of verses that I want to touch on today is this:

Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Messiah Yeshua our Lord.

Nothing, no way, no how, can separate us from God's love towards us in Yeshua. With one exception, of course: ourselves! We can still walk away from Him, but He will never reject us and no-one else (including the enemy of our souls) can take us away. That is why Yeshua says:

John 10:28-29 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.

As followers of Yeshua, we are covered by that guarantee. Recognise it, stand on it and enjoy it - He has spoken those words for you!
