Matthew 5:16 - Let Your Light Shine ... part 2 of 3

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men so they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

In the same way? Yes, like the description given in the previous 2 verses. You are the light of the world ... cannot be hidden ... (give) light to all in the house. Shout it out in Hebrew, Matzati Oto, or in English, "I found Him." Perhaps more accurately, "He found me!"

John 15:16a You did not choose Me, but I chose you. I selected you so that you would go and produce fruit, and your fruit would remain.

Producing fruit requires something from us. Paul explains it this way (right in the middle of his treatise on Messianic Judaism, Romans 9, 10 and 11) ...

Romans 10:14-15 How then shall they call on the One in whom they have not trusted? And how shall they trust in the One they have not heard of? And how shall they hear without someone proclaiming? And how shall they proclaim unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who proclaim good news of good things!" (quoting Isaiah 52:7)

Just like a precious diamond is most beautiful in reflective light, so you too are most beautiful (even radiant) when you reflect the light of Yeshua, which is euphemistic for expressing His character.

Ephesians 5:8-9 For once you were darkness, but now in union with the Lord you are light. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth).

That's right, in union with the Lord, we are fruitful. When pruning olive trees, we learned that for a branch to be fruitful, it must be exposed to light. When exposed to the light of Yeshua, you are those fruitful branches.
