Remember In Hebrew this is the root zayin-chaf-resh - which means to remember, recollect or call to mind (Davidson). It is used more than 300 times in the Hebrew Scriptures and is one of the key concept within Judaism - we practice it at every feast: remembering and celebrating what G-d has done for our people and has promised to do in the future. We ask G-d to remember us and to remember His covenant. He tells us to remember the Shabbat and keep it holy. How do we remember G-d? Do we think of Him only when we want or need something? Do we remember Him two hours into trying to solve a problem when we should have asked Him for His help an hour or more ago? Do we remember His goodness when He blesses us, or enables us or others to bless us? Let's try to be more of a remembering people, not just remembering that He is there, but remembering to engage with Him more often!
