Go into your inner room

Question of the day: Can we go deeper into Matthew 6:6a "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room"?

Answer: Sure, let's go. The "inner room" in Hebrew is Aaron (meaning closet). This is a reference to the Aaron Kodesh (holy closet), or Ark of the Covenant. That Ark contained the Torah (in the side of it), so bring your Bible when you go to pray.

The Ark contained 3 other items that are also important. The tablets of the 10 Commandments. The "Law" is not done away in Messiah Yeshua ... Romans 3:31 "Do we then nullify the Torah through faithfulness? May it never be! On the contrary, we uphold the Torah." The Bible repeatedly mentions Yeshua together with "grace AND truth," meaning "grace and law." It's not either/or but both/and.

Secondly, there was the pot of manna. "Manna" means portion. It represents God's provision for our lives. We pray remembering God is Yehovah Yirah, litterally "God will see to it" but usually translated as "God is my provider." So we "eat" our daily portion from His Word.

Lastly, there was Aaron's rod that budded. This represents life from the dead. Aarons rod had no root in itself. We remember we have no root in ourselves. Psalm 100:3 "Know that Adonai, He is God. It is He who has made us, and we are His. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture." We cannot sustain ourselves.

Please read these verses in closing for today. Psalm 36:8-11 "How precious is Your love, O God! The children of men find refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill from the abundance of Your House. You give them drink from the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life - in Your light we see light. Continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, and Your justice to the upright in heart."
