Matthew 24 today

As we find ourselves living in strange and testing times, I cannot help but reflect on Yeshua's words to His disciples in Matthew 24. Within this chapter we have much information regarding the signs and course of events connected to the end times or the end of this age as we know it. Yet I question whether many of us have failed to recognized the times we are in. More importantly, do we know and understand as individuals and a body where we are in the end time timeline? This timeline began over 2,000 years ago when Yeshua walked this earth. Messiah Yeshua who died on the cross for the sins of mankind; fulfilling the prophecy in Isaiah 53.

As I have said before, God is outside of time; yet our minds cannot conceive this and therefore placing ourselves and events within the framework of a timeline can be difficult. Just before Yeshua predicts the destruction of the temple, He speaks with great sorrow over the future of Jerusalem:

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!'" Matthew 23:37-39

Yeshua goes on to say: "Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." (Matthew 24:2) And so began the timeline which we find ourselves in today, the continuation of Matthew 24. It has been and continues to be a process. The land know today as the State of Israel has gone through many phases. The gentile body of believers has also gone through much in understanding, through the Word of God, the calling or role of Israel in the end times. God has remained faithful in all cases to raise a group, a seed, which heard and understood His heart for Israel; the people and the land.

In the end of the nineteenth century, waves of Aliyah (return to the land of Israel) began and continue till today. The reason we are here in the land, is God and His work through leaders of all types and from all nations. He builds up and tears down; choosing whom He will work through; which King, President, leader, organization or even dictator. God is in control and what He has said, He will do.. In the book of Revelation, John sees the fall of Babylon the Great.

The enemy has put many obstacles in the way throughout history; attempting to keep the Messiah from coming. However, in the end; Babylon the Great, The mother of harlots and of the abominations of the earth (Rev. 17); which is the world system, will fall. The economy has already been effected by a virus which has caused the whole world to go crazy. Again, where are we and how are we standing and functioning within this system and timeline? It is critical for us to turn our face to Yeshua and invest in personal time with Him. Each of us must do as He directs us individually; dying to self. We have work to do.

We have a calling which is higher than simply operating within the world system. Have we been driven off track by the enemy? He knows that he cannot defeat God, but by drawing our attention and wearing us out the enemy can position us to enter the soulish realm. Whereas our place is to seek God's face in prayer, worship and intimate time spent with Him.

May we remain focused and heed the warning of Matthew 25:13 "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."
