The Law of Christ

The author believes that the phrase law of Christ is a synonym for "Law of the Spirit" found in Romans 8:2. When we are in the Spirit, we are no longer under the Law as a fearful taskmaster, or under the Mosaic order per se. Our essential anc central content of faith is the love of God, the atonement in Yeshua, and the power of the Spirit. This produces a new approach to Scripture whereby the Spirit places God's desires upon our hearts as well as emporwers us to perform God's will. The reading of Scripture is a primary means for the Spirit to give us a depth of conviction and power. This all occurs on the basis of an intimate fellowship with God rather than the maintenance of a code that seems external to us. Yet it is the very Torah that the Spirit will use to "instruct" in God's ways and to "train in righteousness" (see 2 Tim. 3:16; Ezek. 36; Jer. 31). The "law of Christ" might as well mean the application of Law as fitting to the New Covenant order.
