Psalm 125 - God surrounds us with His love

Psalm 125:1-2 "Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever." NKJV Some say Psalms 120-134 (15 Psalms) are "Songs of Degrees" while others refer to them as "Songs of Ascent". Individually, they are referred to in Hebrew as Shir HaMa'alot, meaning something like "A Song That Will Elevate You" or "A Song of Elevations". The first significant word of verse 1 is Bot'chim from Betach, meaning trust. It tells us we can trust (count on) God, like Mount Zion, which does not move, but dwells eternally. Then in verse 2 we encounter three phrases. In the first there is a 4 word phrase in Hebrew meaning "Jerusalem Hills Surround Her." Then in the second phrase, "And The Lord Surrounds To His People." The final phrase "From Now And Until Eternity." These two verses provide a beautiful word picture. First, those who trust God are immovable like Mount Zion (which the Bible uses euphemistically for Jerusalem). Then the word picture changes. The focus changes from the people to God (Who surrounds His people). May we always give thanks to God, Who surrounds Amo (His people) throughout eternity.
