God is faithful

1 Corinthians 1:9a "God is faithful ..." What a phrase. I want to write about it a little. God is faithful ... would you bet your life? If you gamble on a sure thing, is it really a gamble? Are you tempted to say, "There is no such thing as a sure thing?" But God ...

We express faithful in Hebrew as Emunah (Google translate offers Ne'eman,/i> which is another form of the same root - Aleph, Mem, Nun.) This is the foundational word from which we get our word "Amen".

There is also a component to this (although I’m not able to express it this moment, so you'll have to take my word for it) that is time constrained (or rather "time unconstrained"). God's Emunah truth is eternal. It is everlasting truth. God is faithful and that is the everlasting truth.

When we read the Scriptures, we are reading God's promises to His people. We are told to have faith. Faith in what? Faith in the promises of God. Not just faith in the promises of God, but faith that He is able (the Bible even indicates "more than able") to accomplish every promise in and through us, who trust in Him.

Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to Him who is able to do far beyond all that we ask or imagine, by means of His power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the community of believers and in Messiah Yeshua throughout all generations forever and ever! Amen."
