More of God

Watch this song on YouTube. Lyrics: Set a fire down in my soul that I can't contain, that I can't control. I want more of You, God, I want more of You, God. That's it, just repeat.

Question: Is that the truth? Do we really want more of God? What a silly question. Of course we do. Okay, consider this verse.

Matthew 7:11 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"

Would this include more of God. If we ask God for more of God, is God likely to answer that prayer? Sure, but more importantly, what changes for us? God is all about change. We've been reading in 2 Corinthians this week.

2 Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory - just as from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

He is the potter, we are the clay. (Isaiah 64:8 and Jeremiah 18 - yes, the whole chapter.) Jeremiah calls the people to repent and the people rebel and plot against Jeremiah. Not their best response. It led to the Babylonian exile.

Let's ask for more of God AND prepare to change.
