John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Yeshua the Messiah, the One You sent.

Rabbi Trail: My proposition is that the gospel (good news) can be preached from any verse of Scripture. (This may depend on the preacher's ability to rightly divide the word of truth.)

I actually believe that is mostly true. Although I have not found one verse that violates my proposition, I have to admit, I have not tried it with every verse. So my conclusion is that there may be a few verses where it may be a bigger challenge, but not many.

My point in bringing this up today is that our subject verse proves my point. End RT.

The question to be answered in all 3 messages is the basis of the true gospel ... Matthew 16:15 He (Yeshua) said, "But who do you say I am?" This is a question that Yeshua is asking every one of His followers, and a question that must be answered individually. Peter got it right, but so must we also ... Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."

Yeshua is saying in His prayer (today's subject verse) that when we know this we cross over from death in Adam to life in Him. To "cross over" in Hebrew is Ivri which means "Hebrew" (in Hebrew). We "cross over" and become (grafted in or re-grafted in) to the first Hebrew as sons of Abraham.

Galatians 3:29 And if you belong to Messiah, then you are Abraham's seed - heirs according to the promise.

The promise is the promise of eternal life. It is the gift of God.

Romans 6:23 For sin's payment is death, but God's gracious gift is eternal life in Messiah Yeshua our Lord.

Believe it, receive it. Earlier in the Upper Room Discourse, Yeshua reassured us in this. John 14:27 Shalom I leave you, My shalom I give to you; but not as the world gives! Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid. And that's the last word for today.
