Romans part 97 - Victory Over Sin 36

Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Ruach Elohim, these are sons of God.

What does it mean to be "led by the Ruach Elohim (Spirit of God)?" Yeshua promised us the Spirit of God ... (Here Yeshua identifies the "Spirit of Truth" which is the same Spirit.) John 16:13a But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth. As we follow the leading of the Spirit, we walk in obedience to the Spirit's direction.

Isaiah prophesied over this as well. Isaiah 30:21 Your ears will hear a word behind you saying: "This is the way, walk in it. When you turn to the right, or when you turn to the left." It is significant that the Apostles and early believers were all called "followers of the way." Isaiah spoke on behalf of God regarding this phenomenon in another place too ...

Isaiah 55:8-9 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways." It is a declaration of Adonai. "For as the heavens are higher than earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

The necessary "ingredient" in this verse isn't mentioned directly. To be "led" requires (by definition) obedience. Sadly, we have made the modern Christian experience so focused on personal salvation (getting a "ticket" to heaven) that we have mostly lost the biblical focus on living in righteousness as the manifestation of our love for God.

John 14:15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Can you hear Paul, as we read these 3 chapters (Romans 6,7&8), pleading that the people of God would live free from sin and embrace God's holy, righteous and spiritual ways. Yes, be led by the Spirit and be a child of God.

Ephesians 5:8-10 For once you were darkness, but now in union with the Lord you are light. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.

Shalom shalom.
