Romans part 110 - Victory Over Sin 49

Romans 8:35-37 Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, "For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. But in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Finally, the declaration, "We are more than conquerors." Paul is concluding his treatise on "Victory Over Sin" with that victorious statement. But what does it really mean? Job said this, and it is the truth ... Job 13:15a Even if He slays me, I will wait for Him. From this we have the phrase, "The patience of Job." We are "more than conquerors" together with Yeshua because we are submitted to the One Who is "More Than ..."

This victory over sin is the love of God. John 14:15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. Working backward, what shall separate us from the love of God? Paul provides quite a list, the purpose of which is to teach us that nothing can separate us from God's love.

1 John 4:9-10 The love of God was revealed among us by this - that God sent His one and only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. This is love - not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atonement for our sins.

A moment ago, I only quoted part of the verse. I left out the most important part, "Through Him Who loved us." We are victorious BECAUSE He is victorious, and His victory is all inclusive. 1 Corinthians 15:27a For God has "put all things in subjection underneath His feet." "All things" means nothing is left that is not "in subjection."

If "all conquerors" are Yeshua's subjects (submitted to Him), then He is more than a conqueror, and in Him, so are we. Shalom shalom.
