Someone asked me the other day, “What does Am Israel Chai mean?” And if you don’t know, I want to tell you.

Because it’s not just a slogan, it’s a prayer and a proclamation. From the Hebrew, Am Yisra’el Chai translates into English,  “The People of Israel Live.” It is well-known in Jewish culture and celebrates the enduring strength and resilience of the Jewish people.

It affirms that despite the systematic attempts to exterminate and annihilate the Jewish people, but thanks to God’s guiding hand, we have stubbornly persevered and have miraculously lived. Am Yisra’el Chai is also a prayer, a longing for a  united Jewish people living together in safety, security and with unity and harmony.
